Fort Richardson |
| I agree w/ the previous posting about Fort Richardson, but I dislike it here for a few different reasons. I find the weather in the spring rather depressing, because there is snow on the ground in April. The hourly care on base is poor, in my opinion, and the staff seems poorly trained w/ limited education. However, I have heard good things about the full time care and they are building two new centers. My housing is beautiful and it is the highlight of our stay. There is a wonderful playgroup on base for young children and many sporting activities. It is a mixed bag for our family. Before we moved to AK, I heard that the children at the local base schools were prone to bullying and this has been our experience. If you want to send your child to a private school, you will find the drive and the high tuition aren't really worth it. The schooling options are limited. I can't wait to leave, but I know a plethora of people who love it here. |
