I hear how some complain about Schofield/Hawaii not being what they expected. That its hard to find a job and that only the locals get them. How everything is expensive. Well its not. You dont have to work on post and only get jobs through AAFES you can go to the malls and try. Not only locals get the jobs. You dont have to spend a bundle just to have fun. Everywhere on the island there is MILITARY DISCOUNT. Theres a bunch of things to do here. There is Sealife Park, The Waikiki Aquarium, Polynisian Cultrual Center, beautiful mountains which you can hike on, museums, Movie on the Beach, five more islands that you can visit. Go to the MWR and they'll get you ticket to go to the water park for much less then the regular price, if you want to go to the other islands call a ticket agency and tell them youre military. That should be enough. The military is rebuilding all of the barracks but the ones with historic value. They are also rebuilding the homes that were once condemed. Schofield is improving. If you dont like military housing then just live off post. With your BAH plus your pay you WILL survive. The people here are okay. Not all posess the ALOHA spirit. The education here is ranked the last in the nation but they are slowly improving on that, but if you want you can send your child to a private school. Theres one in every city, but the best school for girls is Sacred Hearts Academy and the best for the boys is Saint Louis High School. The weather here is GREAT except for the winter. It rains alot then. I read someone complaining about the traffic. Umm yeah what traffic. Its not like New York or California. It doesnt come to a stand still unless there was an accident. Other then that Hawaii is a great place to be stationed.
