I loved living in Cherry Point, the nearby town, (connected by the hip) is Havelock. Some people call it Havenot-and complain about it, but i dont see why they were b**ching, I loved the place. The housing is ok, as always, the air conditioning is like a freezing unit lol. I lived in Slocum housing and Fort Macon, and I liked both. My neighbors were great, and at times were my life savers! I found the people very friendly and outgoing, after some searching, I was able to find a job, like any where else, you just have to look. I loved going to the beach in nearby Moorehead City and stuff, they have a little club there that i like, its called Shooters, and this sports bar that the radio was always at i ferget the name. New Bern is nearby also with the little mall, not much shopping to do around there. Win Dixie is sooo expensive, I recommend getting all your meat at the commissary. It rains like a b**ch sometimes hee hee but it still nice. It really has a small town feel to it, I always liked the gym on base to play basketball, and they have an awesomely big indoor swimming pool right next door. I enjoyed the greenery all year, the winters are mild. Very beautiful place! Great place to build a house. I had my baby at the Naval Hospital - they took very good care of me, once you get used to calling for the corpsman lol i liked how the chaplain stopped by and blessed my daughter, i thought that was cool. I didn't even know who he was, but he made me feel at peace. I have very fond memories of this place, and would love to go back some day.
