The base sucks nothing is here. Winters are harsh -70 wind chill and -30 degrees temp. Colder than Alaska weather anyday. Summers are short but nice normally not too hot.Snow stops in may- june then you have nice weather til september october. Was stationed there from 99-01 and they were in process of building a lot of new housing. The duplexes were very nice, carpeted and large basements. Old stuff (fourplexes & Six plexes) sucked but had large basements, very small rooms and You could hear other peoples tv's so we tried not to run our surround sound unless the neighbors were gone. There is no diversity in this city if you have any tinge of color people stare, but its due to curiousity nothing like the racism in the south in my opinion. You have to go to Fargo for near nice restuarants like Olive Garden , unless it has changed since then. We traveled to MInneapolis to see civilization almost every 2 months to shop, get hair done and see a real city. Canada is only 2 hours away, great opportunity to visit. This base has a HIGH divorce rate trust me so many people leave here divorced because there's not much to do if you get my drift. Great place to raise a family though, and very safe little to no crime. Only big thing that happened in the three yrs we were there was a girl ran away from home.lol Sorry if u get stuck here..!
