Military spouses never raise their right hand and take an oath. Instead they slip on a wedding band and dream about living happily ever after. That fairy tale of military life usually comes to a crashing halt when the couple faces their first separation. Yet the military spouse endures, experiences, and learns to love the military lifestyle.
Here are the top 10 reasons military spouses should indulge in a well-deserved massage this month.
- Unpacking hundreds of moving boxes
- Remaining calm when the Skype connection is terrible and the sound routinely cuts out
- Quietly smiling and nodding when a grumpy old man jokes “if the Army wanted him to have a wife, they would have issued him one.”
- Sitting at FRG meetings that last more than 3 hours
- Flying Space A from Guam with 3 children
- Waking up in the middle of the night to answer a phone call from their deployed spouse
- Reciting a Social Security number that isn’t your own
- Shopping at the military commissary on payday
- Creative and thoughtful care packages
- They never expect someone to tell them “thank you for your service.”

This is a wonderful giveaway. We as Military spouses have a lot on our plate and a day of rest and relaxation is much needed and appreciated.

I feel we need massage because of all the crazy things we handle while our husbands or wives are gone. It always seems like the cars wait to break down while they are gone. Plumbing goes crazy. Any number of things. Massage is a nice treat and great distresser also.

Thanks for the opportunity!

My daughter Heather is an Army wife and mother married to an Army officer. Among her duties are assisting her husband with informing families of events and other family base news. This is in addition to chauffeuring her three sons to numerous school, social and sports events. This girl needs a me time massage!!

I believe I deserve a massage because I just gave birth to our 9.47 pound son 8 mths ago and had the worst reaction to my second c-section! Also just moving from Hawaii 3 mths ago and working 15 hr days and never seeing my family! Also I would be so appreciative of having a wonderful day to relax just for a hr!

I love all these answers. Keep them coming and take time for yourself, military spouses. That’s an order!

Military wives deserve massages at least once a month. We are the biggest supporters for our spouses. We are their rock, and they are our warriors. As a military spouse you have to be selfless, independent, and strong. We are what keeps everything together.

Because I survived 6 deployments and managed to look like superwoman every time even though on the inside I felt broken and overwhelmed
Because I work Full time, attend Paramedic School Full time, and juggle the kids appointments and schedules (while asking for him to get out of work at a bare minimum) …
the kids once even asked if I was sure I thought dad could handle taking them to the dentist (our baby was 15 years old and dad had never been asked to take on these extra tasks… the kids had just assumed he wasn’t capable.
Because when PCSing across country with 3 dogs, a cat, and a lizard terrarium (that one gets you some funny looks at the hotels :P) … we still make it feel like a vacation / adventure.
Because being asked if I wanted to go to the military ball with only a weeks notice and tickets have to be bought today is totally my idea of pre-planning
Because the week after he deploys, the washer goes nuts and leaks water across the basement… essentially flooding the house…
Because during deployment, while there is a foot of snow on the ground, the SUV wont start, I arrange a tow and repair and try the other vehicle to discover that the cold destroyed the battery… so I am forced to drive the jeep you left in the garage with no top on it because you didn’t put it on while the weather was warm enough to keep it pliable. (another stunt that will get you some funny looks :P) and again a military spouse makes it more like an adventure than a bad day… and can laugh about it the entire time.
