Bolling AFB, DC

Bolling AFB

I love it here. I always said I would never live in DC, but I really enjoy it now. This is our first station. The base is like Pleasantville in the middle of such a busy city. The housing is good, and they are putting up all new housing slowly but surely, which looks really great! The trail along the Potomac river is beautiful and a great place to watch the planes at Reagan Airport or sit and admire all the monuments. you can see so much from here! It's a small base but the buildings are very nice looking and clean, not like some other bases I've seen. The BX and Commisary are both pretty good. Andrews is close and theirs are even better. We have so many friends here and we take total advantage of living in such an historic city.My husband is in the Honor Guard so he's gotten to go to the White House and also participate in so many cool things! The free stuff to do is incredible! The photo ops are fabulous too! The Metro is also good and I'd even take it by myself! :) People want to come and visit us all the time! I teach in VA so traffic is the worst downfall of this place. It could drive you nuts! Prices are high too in the city and taxes as well. I am so glad we dont' live off base.. it is so expensive and you don't get a whole lot for your money. I still love it though and will be sad to leave!
