Well, we have been here for about 6 + years. It's not the greatest and the Division is on their 2nd tour in Iraq . There is not a whole lot to do besides Savannah which is about a 45 min drive. They have 2 malls up there and restaurants . The weather right now is about 90-95 hot and it's humid and it rains about everyday . The base is very old and they are finally getting around to remodel it . New gates, new enlisted quarters but you have to have 3 to 4 kids in order to live there , new movie theater and Px . Being that we have been here for quite a few years I have never felt the support for Families of Deployed Soldiers. The town outside the base is called Hinesville and it's not the greatest. Try to find a nice place off post and I can tell you that it's horrible. In order to find something nice you would have to pay a lot of money for a house out in Richmond Hill. That is about 20-25 min drive. As for the schools on post they have 2 Elementary Schools inside and I haven't heard the greatest things about them. The rate for deployments here is very high . The Division will be going back in '07. I am not looking forward to that because we should be out of this horrible place by then. I have made the best of it ,but Georgia is not the place for us .
