Avoid Lemoore

Lemoore

NAS Lemoore is the base to avoid if you ever have to come to California. If you are single, there is very little to do on or off base. I attribute this to the fact that MWR/QOL is lazy and they do not have a person to run a Liberty program anymore. The local towns do very little to support MWR programs as well. If you have a family, then you may luck out with base housing. Base housing is fairly nice and the housing personnel are helpful, as long as you keep your residence clean and damage free. The Commissary and NEX leave something to be desired. They are not adequate in size or stock for this base and there are VERY few options for shopping out in town. There are the basic stores (Target, Walmart, Sears, Home Depot) but few grocers. Be prepared that most people develop allergies and/or asthma within a year of being here because of the air quality and pollution. This place is an ecological blight and the base does it's part to pollute. A question was issued to the CO of the base about the overwatering/flooding of grassy common areas because they are inconvenient, nasty and increase the risk of West Nile because of mosquitoes. The CO replied in an extremely unprofessional letter that was rude and completely uncalled for. The moral of the story here is, you'll get by just fine if you have very low standards and have no desire to rock the boat.
