This is currently the 3rd Military base that I have had the pleasure (displeasure?) of being stationed at. We have been here about 15 months. We were at Camp Lejeune for 8 years, and New River Air Station for 5 years.
This is BY FAR the WORST Base, I have been at thus far. I don't even know where to begin.....
Housing is AWFUL. It is about 6 miles from the base, and it seems as though the housing office (on base) runs on a out of sight/out of mind mentality. It is POORLY maintained, and regulations are NOT enforced. A drive through housing is an embaressment with the uncut lawns and trash/debris littering lawns, not to mention the abandoned vehicles.
There is NO Commissarry on the base, consequently, you have to drive about 40 miles to McGuire/Ft. Dix to shop, or pay exhorbant prices out in town.
As well, there is NO Support system for military wifes anywhere on the base. It just seems as though you're on your own!
All I have to say is thank GOD they're closing this base, because it is really a lost cause for all military dependents.
