Being at Ft richardson was the best 3 years i ever had! The base is small, but nice. the commissary and px are really big and nice. The housing is beautiful! the schools on base are great! There are lots of stores in nearby Anchorage. i lived at Sams club, Kmart, and Walmart! There are lots of job opportunities! Then Anchorage library is huge! My daughter loved it! The winters are long, and theres lots of snow...Duh! its ALASKA! haha...but the roads are well maintained, and they are cleared, so i never has trouble driving in my car! You dont need an SUV...my neighbor had a Mustang! If you get the chance go! you wont regret it! My hubby enjoyed the mountain biking, hiking, salmon fishing, and he ran a marathon there too!
