Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg is one of the best Army installations...the hospital is state of the art and commissaries and exchanges are top notch! We lived off post but the new housing looked great and the old housing has a lot of character! Fayetteville is another story...but just like anywhere else you have to make the best of it or you will be miserable. My husband was stationed at Bragg for 4 years and we accepted Fayetteville as our temporary home. Be picky if you are buying and be even pickier if you are renting...it is important to be in a safe and clean neighborhood just because it looks nice and is pricey doesn't mean the neighbors are nice and classy too. There is always a chance that we will have to go back to "Fayettenam" but next time we will live in Southern Pines or Aberdeen away from the ghetto of Fayetteville. The big plus is that you are located on a major interstate with Raleigh/Durham and RDU 45 minutes away, beaches 2 hours away and the mountains 2 hours away as well. Lots of things to do on post and a short drive to pretty much anything you would be looking for. If you are headed that way just make sure you get out and enjoy the activities...the downtown is under renovation with lots of new businesses, food and night life. It is what you make it!
