Robins AFB GA

I just read a posting about Robins and I got so upset. I was at Robins from 1989 until May 2005. I don't know if there is anyone who knows the area better. It is a wonderful place to live. Yes it gets hot but what do you expect you're in the south. The town outside the base is growing very fast, so there are traffic issues. There are new subdivision popping up everywhere. Compared to the house prices here in Montgomery they are excellent at Robins. Schools in GA on the whole are not very good, but those in Houston county are excellent. If you have a child with special needs you are not going to find a better school system in the area. My daughter went to the base school from kindergarten to 3rd grade. We never had a problem she loved it and hated to move away. The people in the area are true southerns. They smile alot and call you maam. I hope this puts anyone who may be moving there at ease. There are problems with al bases. I've spent my entire life as a miltary dependent as a child now as a spouse and I'll tell you from experience the base is what you make. If you go into it not wanted to be there then it will be the worst base in the world.
