WPAFB & NAS Pensacola

NAS Pensacola

WPAFB, Ohio is an awesome base. That was our first duty station and we were there for 2 years. The base is huge and there is so much to do. Base housing is nice. We lived off base (15 mins away) and bought a 3 bedroom home, 1275 sq feet for $120,000. We loved it there. You can always find some kind of festival or event going on year round. We had both of our children there and loved the medical facility there. It is an awesome place to raise your kids! Tons of food places, stores, camping, etc. We were really spoiled being stationed here first and every other base is compared to this one. We are now stationed on NAS Pensacola due to my husband being in flight training and are not to happy here. coming from an AF base to a Naval base is very different. Housing looks great from the outside but isn't really great. We actually moved off base after 8 months of being on base. Base is very run down looking. Housing office is terrible. First time I ever came in contact with prisoners as grounds keepers and we had problems with them. Naval Air Museum is great for the kids and the Blue Angels practices are great. Beaches are beautiful here too! Weather is very very hot and humid and there is only about 4-5 months of cooler weather. Needless to say, we only have about 8-9 months left here and I will be glad to get back to an AF base (either Seymour Johnson, NC or Dyess, Abilene TX). If you have questions about either base feel free to contact me or if you have any advice for our future bases please let me know!
