Pope AFB, Fort Bragg

Pope Afb

My husband is active duty AF and we were stationed at Pope for 5 Years. I was lucky enough to already have a job and was able to transfer when we moved there because it is hard to get a job in Fayetteville. Pope is one of the nicest bases I have seen and there was plenty to do around town but it was way over-populated you had to wait every where you went if you didn't get run over first by the drivers. We lived in the new housing on Pope and it was nice and big. They keep a high living standard with weekly yard inspections and they aren't kidding which was nice especially if you put alot of work into your yard. Fort Bragg was okay but if you were Air Force you were treated like an outcast. But you can tell the different standards of living between the two. When we PCS'd we stayed in TLF on Pope and it was 5 star nice but there was an Army couple there who didn't like any of the facilities on Fort Bragg because they were not clean and taken care of. For the most part people there are rude (I hate to admit it but you adapt and become rude too - eat or be eaten) If you're Air Force some of the Army will look at you for joining the AF to take the easy way out but I just kept looking at it as the AF as an Equal Opportunity Employer not our fault you joined the Army.
