Mannheim, Germany

I've been here 6 months and I'm ready to go back to Fort Hood, TX! We had so many things to do in Texas. So much fun and variety. Here the PX and Commissary open at 10 and close at 8 (PX) and 9 (COM) and on the weekends they close earlier! They barely have products they sell out so fast. On Sunday's you can't go anywhere on the economy because everything's closed (EVEN WAL-MART!) Oh yeah, and let's not start on the exchange rate which is curently 74.7 cents to their Euro (dollar). The weather is crappy. The Child Development Center charges way too much. There is only one Elementary, Middle, and High School which means the classrooms are crowded. The kindergarten and sure start (3-4 year olds) classes are out one Friday out of every month, not to mention they're out every holiday under the moon. Last month (January 2007), they went to school at total of about 15 days! The housing is too small with no storage. Some bdrms can only fit a twin sized bed in them. Most washer/dryers are in the basement. You can hear everything your neighbors above you do including walking on the floor. The Germans are rude, they don't say excuse me and just bump right into you. If you go in public and have a stroller they just bump the stroller and push you out the way like you don't exist. It's too small and nothing to do.
