My husband and I have been stationed at Fort Bliss, TX for almost 2 years now. I'd have to honestly say that I really wish we could have begun our military life somewhere else!I find the medical services for military families here is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is almost impossible to get a doctors visit for a sick child, let alone schedule a regular routine check up.Don't even let me get started on theway you are treated when pregnant if you don't weigh 125lbs! I have been very lucky to find some really great friends. There are a lot of rude people here, but there are also alot of really great people here as well, it all depends on whom your looking for! For those people that smack down Offut AFB, there are alot of people saying people in NE are rude! If you want to believe that every person you walk by that doesn't say Hello and shake your hand is rude, then go for it, but if you close your eyes to the world and wonderful people around you, then you are going to miss out on really great things. ? Omaha and Bellevue are amazing places to live and raise children! I know this first hand becasue I lived there for 26 years! I have every intention of moving back when out military time is up to raise my 4 children. Just a quick FYI, it is NOT surrounded in corn!!!There are great schools, great jobs, and wonderful places to go with your families. Every city in every state has problems. If you find a problem area, stay away from it! There are many wonderful opportunities in the Offut area for fun as well as ralaxation. Yes, the base is quite small, but theres a whole world outside of the base just waiting for you!If you are close minded those around you will pick up on it, just remember that. For those of you that love Offut, you know a good thing when you see it, God Bless
