HOUSING:
Near base the area isn't very good. It first reminded me of those really poor towns you see on old western movies. The post housing isn't that great either. Unless you get some of the new stuff, but you have to have a higher rank for that.
We rented just off post in one of the nicer complexes. Unfortunately the reason its considered 'nicer' and the reason it costs more is the fact that it has real AC. I do not like the layout of the apartment, but I will admit I do like that I can see the mountains, and I like that we are close enough to base for my husband to come home for lunch.
Make sure that you know what kind of AC you are getting if you rent off post. Some are better then others.
The west side is also a nicer area to live, however it is a longer commute to post.
