The weather is crazy all over the world lately. Carlisle Barracks though has some wicked wind. No where else, just here. Weird. There is no base Schooling here but LeTort Elementary is the oldest school here but they have the better Teachers. The classes are smaller so they can spend the extra time with the children individually. They also have Volunteer mothers as Class room helpers/Aids. It is affordable off housing here. I do agree with the Col on this. For the amount of money we pay in BAH, where I live is not worth it. It used to be showers and it is more like a weekend cottage but not as nice as a cottage. They are building new housing so our Quarters will probably be a whole lot better. I would love to live where the Officers live. The area is building up. We have a Michaels Craft Store now, Target, Pier 1, Old Navy, Star Bucks, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and a few others. There is Dunham’s Medical Clinic, but no ER’s or Hospital. You would have to go to Carlisle Regional which they just built a New Hospital. They also have a Woman’s Center for Cancer. We have Hershey Medical and Hershey Children’s Hospital. There is a waiting list for the Children’s Hospital I hear. I got in right away due to my Childs condition. They have a Church here that does Christian and Catholic. The Youth Center here is the best I have ever seen and used. We are only 1 hour from the Maryland Border and Virginia where the tax is I think 5%. We have an Airport in Harrisburg which is close and the Baltimore in Maryland which is an hour and a half. We are next the interstates and turnpike so traveling is easy. There are loads of Amusement parks and things to do all around this area. We are 25 miles from Gettysburg. I think I covered everything. The Officers wives think they are too good for the Enlisted wives. The Officers are here only for a year and they get the special treatment.
