Ft. Lewis

Ft. Lewis

Disclaimer: As of yet, I have not lived on post. I have listed *MY* experiences of Ft. Lewis, Ft. Drum and Ft. Huachuca. I will be moving again soon (around May) to who knows where and will post on that base when I get there. Ft. Lewis, WA: Loved the area, IF YOU GET OUT. The nearest city is raunchy but Tacoma, Seattle and many other cities are incredible. If you like hiking, camping, boating, ferries, island hopping, antique shopping, wineries, cultural exploration, museums, zoo's aquariums, skiing, rollerblading, swimming, then Ft. Lewis is for you. There are so many trails, trails for walking, running, rollerblading or biking. Green lake in Seattle is a good start. I traveled all over the state (East, West, North and South) and it was amazing. Ferry trips to Victoria B.C., San Juan Islands, Port Townsend and so much more.I would recommend that you pick up some guides on any of the above. If you are an outdoor person, the first stop is REI in Seattle. I will always miss Washington state. Washington had the largest variety of restaurants and food options out of every place across the U.S. that I have been. Tons of teriyaki as well as Moroccan, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian, Sushi, Chinese ( not buffet!!! check out china town and lunch Dim Sum), Mexican, vegetarian or French. If you have a craving for it you can probably find it. People who complain about this place obviously do not get out much. I liked it more than L.A., Boston, San Diego and many other large cities that I have been in.
