Kings Bay Base

Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay

The best thing to do there was go fishing. If you dont like fishing or going to the local state park theres not much to do. Its a very small town and base. Its about thirty minutes to Jacksonville FL. The weather was sunny and hot. The base housing was old but while we were there they started updating the units. We moved off base after six months. We could only get a two bedroom one bath apartment on base. So we moved and got a three bedroom two bath duplex with garage and fenced backyard for $725 a month verses the $900 on base. They did lower the price of the BAH though. I cant really say about the schools because we had our first child while we were stationed there. I will say the base was always having some sort of family friendly thing going on. I just didnt enjoy it to much because my husband was a MA and worked all the time with long hours. I wouldnt want to go back myself but I hope you enjoy it.
