This base is absolutely horrible. It's located outside of a very tiny town. There is a Walmart and K-Mart in the town and 1 furniture store. The commissary isn't that great and the bx is just as bad. Boise is about a 45 minute drive from the base which is nice. There's a lot of shopping there. The houses on base are in really bad shape. They're old, have lead paint, mold, rodents and bugs. There are some new houses being built, but that doesn't help the people in these old houses. Rental prices are outrageous so that doesn't help either. The base is awful, but the area around and past Boise is really nice. We try to stay away from the base as much as possible. There are lots of nice places to go fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling if you're into that, but I don't think it's worth it to be stationed here.
