I saw the comments about this place, and thought I'd add my thoughts! The crime rate is fairly low. The only SERIOUS (rape, assualt, murder)crimes have been committed by the soldiers, not the town people. We have Sears, K-Mart, and Fred Meyers. If you want any taste of civilization you have to drive 6-7 hours to Anchorage. The housing is the worst I've ever seen if you don't have more than 2 kids. And unless you want to buy a house, living off post is too expensive! We have 24 hours of Daylight in the summer, which is beautiul!
