NAS Jacksonville, FL

NAS Whidbey Island, WA

I lived on base at NAS Jacksonville and I enjoyed my time there very much. The reason: I had the opportunity to meet really great people and I loved the things to do on base. The people living near you all have the same family situation as you do and everyone's spouse is in the military. You have to take the bull by the horns, though. I mean, you have to make opportunities for the friendships to form. Our children had playgrounds all over base to play on and lots of friends to choose from. Our daughter participated in a wonderful ballet program right down the street at the Youth Center and our son spent a lot of time fishing in the St. John's River, which ran through our back yard. There is an excellent outdoor pool on base, too. If you are going to live on base in Jacksonville, you may very well enjoy your experience thouroughly. I did.
