We were just let out of our "prison sentence" in Oct. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders as we left. I hated it there. Granted the summers are beautiful, 2 and 1/2 months of descent weather, way to short! The winters are LONG,COLD,DARK and last at least 8 months. I would dream about feeling the warmth of the sun, even just to see sunlight! The day to day living sucked! Shopping is a joke, and good luck finding a great place to eat. I became quite a good cook while there, even resorting to making my own bagels! And if your husband likes to fish and hunt, just kiss him goodbye from April through Sept. The best part of our stay was going to Valdez, it's so beautiful, if you are in Alaska make the trip it's worth it! We were blessed and are now in the nice warm state of Ga. at Moody AFB and its great! This base is just 2 hours from the beaches in Fl. we go often! Hello sun shine!!
