My husband and I came here in 1967 and never left because we became a part of the community. He retired in 1986. The most wonderful thing about Lemoore is the community and the friendly, caring people. But there's lots more such as the base housing which is all being replaced,a new Commissary and Exchange which are wonderful, a new Navy Hospital with state of the art facilities and friendly staff, there's a new gymnasium being built that is unbelievable, a new Child Development Center and Youth Center are being built, and there's a wonderful in home day care program. On base are two distinguished award winning California schools K-8, and opportunities to complete your high school diploma up to a Master's Degree are available on base. There is an opportunity for families to purchase a house in the area and many do becoming a part of the civilian community. The area is very family oriented providing lots of after school activities. Lemoore and Hanford are small, but Fresno and Visalia, which are within 45 minutes, offer big city entertainment and shopping. The crime rates very low, cost of living is moderate in comparison to other parts of California, summers are hot, but winters are very mild. This is a great place to raise kids.
