We have been here for almost a year now and we love it! Yeah the winter is long, but it is what you make of it. You will hate it if you don't know how to find something to do. Here on post we have an ice-skating rink, a ski hill, an indoor swimming pool, and a great physical fitness center. The norther lights are absolutely beautiful. There is ice sculptures all across town and several museums. Just down the road is the North Pole(where it's Christmas all year long)which is a pretty nice place to visit. In the summer, it is very beautiful, but the sun never really goes away. You will be trying to go to sleep at 1am and it looks like about 4pm. Whoever says they don't like it up here just is not looking in the right places! There is something for everyone you just have to look a little bit harder. We made the trip to Anchorage and Seward last month and that was the best drive we have ever taken! It only took about 6 1/2 hours to get to Anchorage and the scenary was undescribable. We saw moose, caribou, a brown bear, sheep on the peeks of mountains, and even a bald eagle sitting on a frozen pond. The hours on the stores are a little different, but as far as prices as long as you shop on base they are not too bad. The person that wrote in about the housing and the pipes and having asbestos, the asbestos is only exposed if you puncture the wrapping of the pipes, they paint over all of the old paint when someone moves out, and at least we have carpet here. Ft. Campbell didn't even have carpet! I have one child with a 3 bedroom house and we even have a full size basement. This house is dang near perfect compared to the other on base housing I have been in. It is just like I said before something is only going to be as good as you yourself make it to be.
