In Cumberland County (Ft. Bragg) there is like 350K people! This town is way too OVER populated and people drive like speed freaks. This city seems to be half black/white with little racism issues, that I have seen at least. Almost every restaurant/store you can imagine is here, including 2 large PX's, many shoppettes, and 2 commassaries. Off post housing to rent is bountiful and affordable. Check out the neighborhood before renting, there are some scary ones around here. Housing on post is pretty much impossible, from what I am experiencing and have heard, the wait to live on post is anywhere from 1-2 years. Summer is hot and muggy and winter is bitter cold with little snow. Into fishing? There's about 15 lakes on Ft. Bragg which all offer great shore fishing. Employment seems to be a challenge, due to the population. There's a lot of competition out here for ONE specific job. Overall, I like it here, people are super friendly and Raleigh is only 1 hour away, Charlotte is appx. 2 hours away, and the ocean is like 2.5 hours away. All the above was my 2 cents. Good Luck!
