another thing about mcguire, besides the housing being small. they are really old and need to be updated. things break all the time and you have to wait usually a week or more to get them fixed. the heat, and many other things are always in need of repairs. they have updated a few houses but good luck getting one. also the closest grocery stores besides the commissary is like 20 minutes away(besides acme which is in the next town over and charges at least double commissary prices).The commissary raises it's prices almost every week,and there's nothing you can do about it,unless you want to drive quite a ways to get groceries. the closest walmart is 20 minutes away also. the cost of living in NJ is extremely high! we should qualify for COLA. there are some good things about being stationed here though. the ocean is only half an hour to an hour away depending on which town you go to. there's lots of antiques stores, and a huge flea market called columbus. the closest mall is about a 1/2 hour away. over all i would say if you can get out of it, don't come here. there are many bases that are way better than this one.
