We've been at Bolling for 2 years. The base is very smallTheir is no seperation between enlisted & NCO housing. The old housing is falling apart (1975 circa)yards are small. The new housing is nice 3 stories and a garage. All of the housing are duplexes.Their is col.and Gen.housing.The BX has poor selection. This base is not a good place to raise a family. The public schools are Horrible, the private are expensive, their is a new charter school called Howard Road Academy. You have to register for the following year from Jan.28-Feb.28 in order to get into the school of your choice. The only good thing is if you live on base your allowed to go to any school in DC, a handful of private in VA.and MD which the base buses them to,Most people home school. The base is surrounded by housing projects.Lots of monuments, we're 3 miles from them. This place is great from single people.Georgetown,Old Town Alexandria,Adams Morgan & the Baltimore inner Harbor. The metro is clean. Parking at The Mall(monument area)is impossible.Their is a 9 story dorm.Rent is outragous if housing is full (apply as soon as you get orders)You can live in off base townhouses, but it's a 45min-1 hr.drive on the beltway with traffic. It's also unguarded. This is an AF base but their is a Navy side(their new housing Bellvue is beautiful garages and skylights.) Also, you could live next to Army,Navy,Marines or people from the Pentagon. You can have a boat or jaccuzi on base.Their is no flight line.Their is a beautiful walk path along the Patomic.Regan,Dulles and BWI airports are within 30min. Their is no base theater,Enlisted Club, and a small clinic you have to go to Andrews AFB.President Bush,The First Lady, secret service and Gen.Jumper are on base sometimes.Visit the website (www.bolling.af.mil) before coming and get a sponser ASAP.Feel free to e-mail me.
