Ft. Hood

Ft. Hood, Texas

We moved to Ft. Hood about a year ago and I have to say it isn't the greatest of bases. There are way to many people living in such a small area. The houses are all like sardines, stacked next to each other very closely. They do try and have many activities for the family but you should only go if you like crowds. With so many people here every where is crowded and you have to wait in lines, even to get on post! and this is with one whole division gone. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would be like having the biggest divisions here both be here plus the 5000 more troops coming. It is a big mess where the city is concerned and also within the school systems. There are like 32 schools in this school district and they continue to build more yearly. The weather is hot but I like hot weather and there is a lake near by. I really love the state of Texas but like someone else said..this town is very impersonal and the people here are not neighborly. I guess that comes from it being a military town because when we drive around Texas everyone every where else is really really friendly.
