FE Warren is a wonderful historical base, which got it's beginnings as Ft. DA Russell. Since it's calvery mission, it has gone on to be a host camp for German POW's, and is currently the home of the Mighty 90 and 20th Air Force. In the past 15 years the base has gotten a new commissary and bx, while they are not what you would see at Lackland or Scott, they do okay. Enlisted housing is new for the most part and Officers are housed in brick duplex. They have many services to offer, including a combined club service, indoor pool, gym, base theater and horse club. The community has become very californicated. So those folks who feel that the downtowners are rude, this could be why. The true natives are thankful for the base and it's mission and will fight to keep it there.
Cheyenne itself offers a lot to do since I was a child growing up in the area, as always they do host Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Granddaddy of all rodeos every July and the Laramie Country Fair every year in August. There is a new ice center, that is only open over the winter and plenty of good places to eat. Downtown still has a bit of old time charm and the Little Theatre offers wonderful plays over the winter and melodrama over the summer...
This is just one gals opinion of FE, I'd go back again, even though my family is there... to me, there are worse places in the world.
PS -- For those who don't like wind, I can understand it, but I personally need it... it lulls me to sleep at night, but I HATE humidity....
