Keesler AFB, MS

The base here isn't too bad. There are different types of housing. They just had some new townhouses built and they are pretty nice. Some of the older houses aren't too bad either. They usually try to keep up with the maintenance around here so the houses aren't too bad. Keesler has built a new mini mall in the triangle for students in addition to the main BX. This base has a marina where you can go fishing or rent a boat for the day. The rental price is inexpensive, but paying for gas is a different story. If you love to fish, you can enter in the fishing tournament they have often. We have about 12 large casinos nearby and tons of different resturants. You can usually drive about 20 minutes to get to Gulfport where they have the outlet mall, Old Navy, circuit city and etc. If you like to participate in Mardi Gras in the spring. New Orleans is about an hour half away. Penscacola Beach, FL is only about two hours and Mobile Alabama is 45 minutes. I've been to all these places it is really NICE! In the summertime, the weather can really get hot & humid! Keesler has a really nice hospital, they do just about everything there. There are lots of public or private schools nearby. Overall, if you're stationed here it isn't too bad just don't get into the water by the beach it's kinda brown, but it's only about two blocks away from the main gate and it has lots of other activities going on besides swimming.
