Strangely enough Ft Leonard Wood is wonderful. Yes it is a training post but it is great for my son to grow up at. The schools are great. I am used to people being outside all the time but here only select few are. I was at Ft Hood for 6 yrs and really liked it. Then we went to Ft Carson for 3... dont want to go back. Here, when I go outside, I see a variety of animals and it is nice to have trees, grass and flowers. My son is safe to play at the neighbors and ride his bike. He can walk to school too. If you enjoy being outdoors and like animals, I really think you would enjoy here. The post houses are a lot bigger than at Ft Carson. My yard is huge. I am not sure about living off post personally but I know it is pretty affordable. It is hot here in the summer but you are still able to be outside.
