I have lived in Killeen now for over 2 years now and I have hated every minute of it after the first 30 days. At first I was hopeful that moving here would be a great experience----NOT!!!! I have read some other reviews on Fort Hood and 90% of them are so true about the people here being rude and thoughtless. We came from Fort Stewart, where we lived for over 7 years and I pray every day that we're here that we won't be here for 7 years cause living here has caused so many problems and the people in the units don't care or are flat out rude. FRG groups, yeah right! I've went and sat there for the whole thing and not a single person speaks to you to welcome new people in and try to make them feel welcome and accepted. Ft. Stewarts FRG groups were great compared to here. So, if you have a way of avoiding coming to Hood, by all means do whatever it takes to get out of it especially if you are married. They don't give a flying fig about the families around here and it is worse when the soldiers are deployed. We moved here in February after my husband served a year in Korea, only for them to ship him out to Iraq for a year. Two years later I still know no one and I think I will probably keep it that way till the day we leave, which I pray will be soon.
Good luck to those of you who aren't fortunate enough to no have to be stationed here.
