Belle Chasse/New Orleans

NAS Belle Chasse

We have just moved from NAS Belle Chasse. The base housing was very nice and well maintained. The private management was very easy to work with. The base school was terrible, we had to change our child at semester to Belle Chasse Primary. Excellent school, don't let the reputation of New Orleans Public Schools scare you, the base at Belle Chasse is in a different parish all together. Local people are not friendly and the job market in the New Orleans area is NOT good as for opportunities or pay scale. The local housing costs are very expensive for good neighborhoods. This area is not family oriented. We now are at Mayport where the housing is very old and not maintained. We've had problems since before we got here with the housing dept.and the local public schools. The area is beautiful though.
