Ft. Bliss

Ft. Bliss is an old post with a lot of history. It has moved about 6 times since the Calvary on horses were here in the beginning to where the post is now. The housing is old but they have built 3 new areas for military families to live. Some of the housing by the hospital is new for medical families to be close to work and there is a new housing area within a civilian community that was made for the Sgt. Majors Academy. Turned out to be too far to drive each day so they use it for all ranks. Some post housing is really old and is being updated as they can get to it. We are really close to Mexico and I have NO desire to go there. The old cemeteries have a lot of history and you will find famous names.Post is close to White Sands to visit, weather is mild in winters and upper 90s in summer. Our job isn't patriot but keep getting orders back here. Schools are overcrowded and community is home school friendly. Post has good youth center, ceramic shop, and auto shop. As with all new assignments--go see your new community.
