Kadena has been a great assignment for my family. The weather is great, it does get humid in the summer, but great winters. The Okinawan people are some the friendliest people you will ever meet. There is lots to do here, snorkeling, scuba diving, any type of water sport, karate just to name a few. You must be willing to learn to drive on the other side of the road and just go out and experience Okinawa. One thing I do miss here is the shopping. Cloth shopping is very limited unless you can fit in smaller sizes. If you come here, get use to ordering online. The produce at the commissary is not very good and it is very limited. Another bit of advice for anyone PSCing here, if you need a chainlink fence, buy it in the states and have it shipped here. People will sell 150ft of fencing for around $500.00 and that is for a used fence. Great place for a spouse to come if they don't want to work while they are here, the COLA is unbeatable. A majority of people come to Okinawa and they see how good COLA is and either extend or EPCOT.
