Well, I have read through some of the other comments about Ft. Wainwright, sounds like quite a bit of negativity. When we first got here, we had to stay in a hotel for 2 months waiting on housing ( the hotel sucked ) But as soon as we got into our house, we loved it. Everything is all referbished, new carpet, new kitchen sink and counter tops, we have a nice heated garage.... I guess its all timing as far as housing goes, and I think you might run into that anywhere you go. I know that the winter will be a tough one, but my husband was here for a 3 year tour befor, and he loved it and Im planning on him to help get me through. As far as Faibanks itself, it is a small quaint little town, nice people for the most part and of course you have your idiots here and there.... just like anywhere els. It's beautiful though, the drive up here was amazing. It's a once in a life time opportunity, and I cant wait to see more of Alaska.....
