Ahhhhhh yes, Tropical Paradise ! Land of the sunsets and endless margaritas and Duvall Street. Not to mention Mallory Square! Absolutely breathtaking to watch the cruise ships come in and throw your fishing pole into the Atlantic on a whim.
However.....
1. 67% of the population as Gay and/or Lesbian
2. 35% or more have HIV, yes...AIDS
3. A one bedroom shack off post with no parking space is 1200-1800 a month ! I lived in a fairly nice house at the Golf course, but I was living for it. If I could do it again, I wouldnt. The homeowners assiciation at the Key West Golf course is the biggest bunch of micro-managing buffoons I have ever seen. Steer clear of the Golf Course, seriously.
4. Nothing to do on the island if your sober or poor. Shooping sucks. About the only decent store on the island is PIER 1 and its pricey.
5. More rude people than GERMANY !!! Ahhhhhhhh !!!!
6. People that operate in little clicks. I was never "elected" to be in a click, so I had very few friends.
7. Did I mention 67% of the population is Gay?
8. Forget about any good produce or groceries here..lots and lots of fish, but its not cheap either!
