Eielson AFB

Eielson is cold base, but it is not all that bad. If you are from the country, you will most likly love this base. Now if you are from the city, well, you might want to try to go to somewhere eles. There is not much in the form of shopping or night life, but if you are a outdoors person you will be fine. The on-base housing is not bad, not as bad as our Army counterparts at FT.Wainright. Compared to them we live in castles. If you are a air craft maintainer you will hate it. I maintain F-16's here and let me tell you on those -50 degree days can get to you. Don't let the negative peps get to you, this place is what you make it.
