Tripler Army Medical Center

Tripler Army Medical Center

We've been stationed at 4 different posts so far, and I must say that this one is the best...I guess because I love being in Hawaii. It's easy to get onpost housing here, we have had to wait 2 years at other posts and here it only took 2 weeks! Sure the housing is very old and there are a lot of bugs and critters here in Hawaii, but you can manage and alleviate most of those kinds of problems with proper cleaning and storage of your things. The self help store is really good for sprucing up your place. There is definately no shortage of things to do here. I have not noticed a huge difference in the costs of living, I only shop the military stores and Walmart. Also, get your military Kama'aina card, you can get big discounts all over the island with that. Our kids love it! Our little ones can play everyday outside and we take them swimming and snorkling all the time. And out teenager loves it because he can have freedom of going all over the island on The Bus. He goes bodyboarding, surfing, and just hangs out at the beaches with all his friends. If you're coming to Tripler, you'll like it. Most of us up here on the hill are like family, it's very quiet and nobody really knows that housing is located here. Our kids are safe and so are our homes. There are some drawbacks, but what place in this world is "perfect"? The weather is always around 78 degrees and sunny...I am not going to complain about that...No snow! Aloha!
