Fort Eustis

Ft. Eustis

Next to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, this was the best place for families. We walked all over post, the Chapel was awesome and it was in the heart of Hampton Roads and the cradle of the Revolutionary War sites. There are Magnet Schools to brag about, great shopping and our favorite-season passes to Busch Gardens and Water Country which are 2 exits down the interstate. Plenty of great restaurants, parks (Newport News), seasonal activities, museums (Va. Air and Space Museum). Lots of catering to military here with free admission days to the parks (Williamsburg is the best for educational purposes). There is Navy, Air Force and Army all around you. Portsmouth Naval Hospital is the place to have a baby and surgery! Great sports opportunities (on post gymnastics, soccer, basketball, baseball). Housing is small but we lived on Thompson Circle right by the Sand Pool and NCO Club pool to walk to. This is Army Transportation Headquarters so you are going to see lots of movement. They have the best post museum we have ever visited. At one time, there was a DOD space ship on display! Many, many colleges around and a brand new on post school. You will enjoy this place. Highly recommend the Chapel PWOC program.
