We came to Hanscom for the opportunity to see the area. Well we have seen it (and it is beautiful, the Cape, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, etc.) and now we are ready to move on. Hard winters, lots and lots of snow and COLD. Summers are mild, and range from real hot to cold. The traffic is TERRIBLE, there are very few moderate places to eat, mostly upscale. You have to travel on I-95 to get ANYWHERE and forget going out to eat on a weekday evening, because from 3:30 until 7:30 traffic is mostly at a stand-still. We do have a new house (a four-plex). If you don't have family in this area or are not from this area or you are from the South, stay away from this base and just come on vacation to visit! People are not friendly and service is pretty much nil.
