Ft Bragg

I have been at Ft Bragg for a year and a half now and granted this is our first duty station and don't have anything to compare it to, I have to say it's not all that bad. The PX is a little on the expensive side but they have great sales! The post is very pretty with lots to do like parks, running/walking trails, horse stables, bars, cheap movies, outdoor pool, just to name a few. Housing is nice if you ever get one. We've been on a list since we got here and it doesn't look like we'll be getting one anytime soon. But luckily for us there are ample apartment complexes. We are very close to base and have an indoor/outdoor pool and fitness center and the area is great. But there are also quite a few that are not so great and from what I hear very wise to stay away from. The people here are not all that friendly. In my experince they are rude, racist (and Im white) and all around obnoxious. I've met most of my current friends through MSN chat groups (for ft bragg wives) and the FRG. And we always find something stuff to do. There are plenty of restaurants and some great bars and clubs to go to. The beach is 2-3 hours away depending on what beach you go to. The mountains are 3-4 hours away and it is so beautiful up there. The weather is very hot and humid in the summer and chilly in winter with little or no snow. Overall, this is a pretty nice place to live and I reccommend to check it out if your ever in the area...who knows...you might like it here!
