At first Ft. Sill seems awful but we have lived here since 93`, i grew up in the military living in Germany, Ft. Meade, and Ft. Knox, after hubby joined we were stationed at Ft. Lewis which is a beautiful place, Mt. Rainer is breathtaking, but in my opinion if you couldn`t get base housing off post rent was kinda high, lots of things to do and see there, but i like Ft. Sill alot of people say "It`s what you make of it" and if your stuck here for over 10 yrs you better make something of it lol. It`s great if your not really a big city type person but like the occasional trip to the city, OKC is @1 1/2 hours away and Dallas is about 3 hrs away. All our kids were born here so this is there home and we plan to retire here and stay, as far as post housing some of it is bad but some are great, we live in Geronimo Acres and i love it, nice vaulted ceilings, carpet in the living room and dining room, 2 bathrooms, quiet neighbors, we plan on staying on post till right before he retired then we will be buying a home out in Lawton, all i can say about it is if you dont like it here just give it time and once you start going out and people remember you and say hi to you it starts to get that hometown feel to it!
