Eielson AFB Alaska

If you are reading this and coming to Eielson then you are probably hearing all the wonderful things about it. Well if its wonderful things you are hearing, you are probably not talking to someone who lives here. Osan AB in Korea has better facilities than Eielson. It is not only cold but the people (on base) match the weather perfectly. The gym shuts down every time there is an exercise. It's not like you can go off base to a gym...we're in the middle of nowhere!! The BX is tiny and odds are they don't carry what you need...unless you dress like a prostitute or an old lady. My advice....active duty member...don't bring your family here to suffer. There is rarely enough snow to even go sledding!! Most people don't know the interior of Alaska is flat scrub brush country with almost no moisture! Sure the rest of Alaska is nice to look at...but what do you do the rest of the year? If you are moving here we have three words for you....PROZAC, PAXIL, and ZOLOFT. Get some.
