We liked it here right from the start. I'm not crazy about the school my kids attend but I'll deal with it to keep our very nice housing. A lot of the housing is off post housing but those are the ones to get, they're new and modern and spacious. The base is good. The commissary is good size and open 7 days a week until 8pm! Several shopettes, at least one 24hrs, and an ever changing and updating PX. Ok I will say though that being near an airport isn't a lot of fun, we hear the planes all the time, but you tune them out after a while. Off post, in El Paso, theres lots to do and buy,more walmarts than you can count and several full scale malls. My biggest complaint is the hospital, horrible horrible horrible, the ER couldn't diagnose a cold if their lives depended on it and by the time they did, you'd have died of old age! And don't even think about getting an appointment, especially for children. But we like it here and have thought of even buying a house here for retirement.
