Mrs.

Ft. Bliss

My husband is here attending the SGM academy. Ft. Bliss is okay, but not my favorite place. We came from Dept. of Defense schools and miss the valuable education they provided. I have a son in High School who's not being challenged. He's had 10 minutes of homework so far this year. The school he's attending is one of the best here, but they teach for half a period and the rest is for homework time instead of using that time to teach more to the kids. They adjust school schedules for the big TAKS tests to provide study time for the kids. Basically teaching the test. I have a daughter in 3rd grade who has more work than her high school brother. I would not reccommend bringing your children here for school unless you plant to home-school. The elementary school has no music or art teacher, however has an asst. principal when there's only 350 or less students. The cost of living off post is very reasonable, but the cost of groceries at the commissary makes up for that. Also, auto insurance is very high due to the high theft rate and because there are several people of Mexico that come here without insurance. Wish this course would have stayed at 6 months. We would have stayed at Fort Knox.
