My husband and I have been stationed at Offutt for almost 2 years. To all those who hate Offutt, trust me there is worse! Wait and be stationed at Altus AFB, OK. You think you were looking on the map for Offutt good luck finding Altus. At least here we are near shopping and places to eat, in Altus all they have is Wal-Mart! Of course the winter weather is bad here. We live North of Oklahoma, what do you expect? Also, about people in this area not being friendly...how about you start being friendly, that always helps.
Base housing is a joke though unless you get in the new housing. If you want to flash back in time like 90% of the people in the old housing have fun but I would wait for a new house. It is definately worth the wait!!!
Finding a job...education would be a good start for those of you complaining that you can't find one! Or else just work at Wal-Mart or Target like everyone else.
There are a lot of things to do with children around here for stay at home parents. And family oriented places to go, just get off the couch, quit complaining and discover!!
Bottom line is Offutt may not be the best base ever, but it is not the worst by far!
