wow, where do start?! i grew up in alaska, and what can i say, i love the place! im am glad to be here in little rock though. the base here is pretty nice, i just hate the bx, its soo little and there is nothing there! i do however love the commisary though, its so big! we have been here for 2 months now, and the state itself id really nice, the base is pretty, but the people here are dumb! im sorry to say LOL nice yes, but not very smart (most of them anyway)little rock is soo pretty! i wish we lived off base, buts its sooo expensive! the tax rate is 9% its crazy! comming from anchorage alaska where elmendorf is and there is no tax, this is a big change! a nice one though. so for any one you going to alaska, dotn listen to what everyone says about it, you will hopefully love it there, but you will make your own opinion about it. all i have to say is just make sure you are not stationed up north like fairbanks, very far away from everything and VERY cold in the winter! anchorage has its moments, but its really not that bad. and as far as schools, i LOVE the elmentary school on base, its great! as far as school here on base, totally hating it! its a freekin trailer! LOL any way if you ever end up either place, i hope you enjoy it as much as i have and will :)
